Anal Pain

Anal pain is any sort of discomfort in or around the anus. Chronic anal pain may be indicative of a serious underlying condition or injury.
The main cause of rectal pain can vary depending on the individual and their specific circumstances. Common causes of rectal pain include anal fissures (tears in the lining of the anus), hemorrhoids (swollen blood vessels in the rectum or anus), anal abscesses or fistulas (infections or abnormal connections near the anus), proctitis (inflammation of the rectal lining), anal muscle spasms, sexually transmitted infections, inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis), constipation, or trauma.
