Mastitis

Mastitis is an infection that occurs in the breast tissue, typically in women who are breastfeeding. It is caused by bacteria that enter the breast through a cracked or sore nipple and can cause pain, swelling, redness, and warmth in the affected breast. Make an appointment to talk to Carbon Health about home treatments and whether medical treatment is necessary.
Mastitis may resolve on its own in some cases, but it is important to seek treatment to prevent further complications. If left untreated, mastitis can lead to the formation of a breast abscess, which may require surgical drainage.
