Slow Heart Beat

A slow heartbeat is when your heart beats at a rate slower than 60 beats per minute. Some people's hearts beat this slow naturally, and relaxation or medications can safely slow your heart below this rate. However, you should contact a nearby Carbon Health professional if you don't have a history of slow heartbeats and experience one without an obvious cause.
Bradycardia is a condition characterized by a slower-than-normal heart rate, typically less than 60 beats per minute. There can be many underlying causes of bradycardia, including heart disease, such as damage to the heart's electrical system, and certain medications that can slow the heart rate. Other causes of bradycardia include thyroid disorders, electrolyte imbalances, sleep apnea, and certain infectious diseases, such as Lyme disease.
