Rapid Heart Beat
A rapid heartbeat is called tachycardia, and it does normally not cause alarm. Anxiety, caffeine, stress, and exercise can all cause your heart to beat faster than normal. Seek medical examination at a nearby Carbon Health if your heartbeat will not settle down, or if it's accompanied by chest pain, shortness of breath, or dizziness.
- In adults, a heart rate of more than 100 beats per minute (bpm) at rest is generally considered too rapid, while in children, the cutoff may be higher depending on their age. However, the exact cutoff for a too rapid heart rate can vary depending on individual factors such as overall health and physical fitness.
