Yellow Tongue
A yellow tongue is often from substances like dead cells accumulating on the tongue. Most cases can be cleaned up with proper oral hygiene at home, like mouthwash and brushing your teeth. If the discoloration persists after cleaning or is accompanied by pain, swelling, or fever, talk with a nearby Carbon Health. Underlying conditions like jaundice may be at play.
- A yellow tongue can be caused by a variety of factors, including poor oral hygiene, dry mouth, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and certain medications. However, it can also be a symptom of a fungal infection called oral thrush, which is caused by an overgrowth of the Candida fungus in the mouth.
