Ingrown Toenail Removal
Sometimes a person's toenail will grow into the skin, often as a result of damage or breakage on the nail. Ingrown toenails can be painful and might lead to infection, so safe removal is the best course of action. Speak to a Carbon Health clinician about removal, as removing an ingrown toenail at home can cause infection. You might also need antibiotics after removal.
- An ingrown toenail is hard to ignore because it cause pain at the top edge of your nails on either side where the nail meets your skin. This is thought to be from inflammation of the skin that encroaches on the nail and causes further swelling of the tissue.
