TB test
A TB test will determine whether you have been infected with tuberculosis (TB), a serious, highly contagious lung infection.
- A TB test involves injecting a tiny amount of a PPD (purified protein derivative) fluid under the skin of the forearm. This will cause a small bump to form. If this area increases in size, is red, or becomes swollen, that indicates that the TB test result is positive (that TB infection is present).
