PrEP Consultation

PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a preventive medication for individuals at risk of HIV. When taken consistently, PrEP reduces the risk of HIV transmission by over 99% in sexual contact and by at least 74% among people who inject drugs. Carbon Health can prescribe PrEP and provide ongoing treatment.
Exposure to HIV refers to situations where there is a potential risk of coming into contact with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which can lead to an infection. The primary modes of HIV transmission include unprotected sexual intercourse (vaginal, anal, or oral) with an HIV-positive person, sharing needles or syringes contaminated with HIV-infected blood, receiving blood transfusions or organ/tissue transplants from an HIV-positive donor, and mother-to-child transmission during childbirth or breastfeeding from an HIV-positive mother.
