Reflux Symptoms

Acid reflux is characterized by symptoms of a burning sensation in the throat and chest caused by stomach acid. Acid reflux tends to come and go, aggravated by certain foods, stress, and laying down. If you have recurring symptoms of acid reflux, schedule a visit with a nearby Carbon Health.

Reflux, also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), typically causes heartburn, a burning sensation behind the breastbone that may move upward to the throat. Other common symptoms include regurgitation, the sensation of food or liquid coming back up into the mouth, difficulty swallowing, chest pain, and a chronic cough. Some people may also experience hoarseness or wheezing, especially when lying down.
