Asthma is a chronic condition. It causes a person’s airways to become inflamed, making breathing difficult.
- During an asthma attack, a person with asthma finds it difficult to breathe and experiences tightening of the chest, difficulty getting air in and out of the lungs, coughing, and wheezing. An asthma attack can be a frightening experience and can even be deadly if it is not managed quickly and effectively.
