I care about improving the patient experience in our healthcare system by being present for people at the moment they need it, ensuring all members of the care team work together, and by drawing on a diverse range of approaches to promote healing.

Biography / Experience

Annie Valente, MD is a family medicine physician passionate about infusing health care with dignity and humanity. After medical school at the University of California, San Francisco and residency in family medicine in Boise, Annie served as a full-time primary care clinician for five years at a private practice in Portland, Oregon, seeing patients across the entire life course including during pregnancy and through delivery. She has completed a fellowship from the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine and uses lifestyle and non-pharmaceutical approaches to support people in both health and times of illness. Prior to Carbon, she worked as a research scientist with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation with their data modeling team in women’s, reproductive, and child health.

Healthy Habits: In her spare time, Dr. Valente enjoys living an active life of adventure with her partner and two young sons. She loves fostering creativity for herself and those around her through art, film, music, cooking, and story-telling.
