Meet David Simcox, Center Manager of our Kansas City, MO location. In this post, he shares a closer look at the clinic and what makes the Kansas City community unique.
What types of patients do you see?
The Carbon Health Kansas City Ward Parkway clinic sees patients of all ages. We see lots of young adults and families that are in need of services ranging from sports physicals, x-rays or sutures from injuries, to STI screening in adults to UTI treatment in our older adults. We also provide workplace health services, which includes pre-employment services, testing, and workers’ comp.
Where are you located?
We are located at the Ward Parkway shopping center between Trader Joe's and Crumbl Cookie, on the Ward Parkway side of the mall. If you use your phone to navigate and you are seeing Five Guys, just call us (417-822-5933) and we will guide you around to the other side of the mall.
What are the main cities or neighborhoods you serve?
Most of our patients are from the greater Kansas City area, but Kansas City is like the Hub for the Midwest. It is not unusual for us to get visitors from out of state and they tend to choose us from relatives that have been to our clinic in other states or from doing a Google review of Urgent Cares in the area.
What’s your favorite thing about working at this location?
The team is great! Friendly and compassionate, and we’re overall a strong cohesive team that works well with each other. In fact, our google reviews most often mention the welcoming staff and our great bedside manner as reasons to choose Carbon Health!
Any tips for first-time patients?
We are located at a shopping center, so there is plenty of free parking and you can even find room for the semi truck for those that need a DOT physical.
How is Carbon Health involved in the local community?
We partner with surrounding businesses to do events to showcase the services that we offer the community. Maria is the Center Manager for our Overland Park Clinic. She and I do most of our community events together.

Any local ties?
Most of the staff are from the Kansas City area or not too far from it. Most of our staff are from the Kansas City area and big into the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. During football season, you will see our staff supporting their Chiefs by wearing red on Fridays for Red Friday.
