Meet Tommy Le, Center Manager of our Stonestown location in San Francisco, CA and Yenni Diep, Sr. Center Manager. In this post, they share a closer look at the clinic and what makes the local community unique.
What types of patients do you see?
Our Stonestown urgent & primary care clinic primarily see families, as we are located near West Portal, Parkmerced, and Ingleside—communities that are very family-oriented. We also care for many travelers, as we are one of the closest areas in San Francisco to the airport. In addition, we serve a high volume of occupational health patients, with WPH encompassing DOT physicals, pre-employment exams, and workers’ compensation cases.
Where are you located?
We are located outside of and connected to Stonestown Galleria (the last remaining mall in San Francisco), but we are not inside the mall itself. To find us, head toward the Whole Foods and Xfinity area; we are located right next to Xfinity. If you follow map directions to the mall, you may need to walk toward that side of the shopping center to reach our entrance. There is free parking at the mall and we are also close to the Stonestown Galleria stop on the M line (head toward the Whole Foods end of the mall).
What are the main cities or neighborhoods you serve?
We serve a wide range of patients from across San Francisco, including many local residents. Due to our location on the southern edge of the city, with convenient access right off Interstate 280, we also frequently care for patients from Daly City and surrounding areas. We serve many suburban families from neighborhoods such as West Portal, Oceanview, Ingleside, and Lakeside. Additionally, we see a high number of travelers (especially those arriving via San Francisco International Airport) since we are one of the first urgent care locations they encounter when entering the city.
What’s your favorite thing about working at this location?
Our favorite thing about working at this location is our amazing and understanding patients. It makes a big difference to be able to care for a community that is so kind, patient, and appreciative, which creates a really positive and rewarding environment for both staff and patients.
Any tips for first-time patients?
Walk-ins are always welcome, but we also accept appointments if you’re trying to plan ahead. You can make an appointment online or through our app, Carby Health. We recommend downloading the app, because after your visit you’ll find your visit summary (and lab results, if applicable) right there. Please remember to bring your ID, insurance card (if you are using insurance), and credit card for payment.
How is Carbon Health involved in the local community?
We are actively involved in the local community through partnerships and patient care. We have worked closely with the San Francisco Department of Public Health during a recent TB outbreak, helping support community health efforts. We also care for students from local international boarding schools, as well as staff and students from San Francisco State University. In addition, we provide care for City and County of San Francisco employees when they experience work-related injuries.
Any local ties?
Many of our staff have strong local ties to the community: some grew up in the area, are San Francisco natives (which is increasingly rare), have children attending nearby schools, or are actively involved through volunteering. This connection helps us better understand and care for the community we serve.
